“At least two Boulder-area companies have inked agreements to have their technologies commercialized as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s effort to accelerate startup innovation.
Boulder-based firms e-Chromic LLC and ElementOne were among 36 startup companies that made submissions to the “America’s Next Top Energy Innovator” challenge, Department of Energy officials said Wednesday.
The three-dozen firms signed 43 option agreements to license the technologies and have them patented by one of the national labs and the Y-12 National Security Complex.
ElementOne plans to commercialize sensors — also developed in conjunction with NREL — to detect hydrogen, said Jeff Sherwood, a Department of Energy spokesman.”
